Poetry Platform

Poetry platform is a new cycle of discussions on contemporary poetry, proposed by writer Jérôme Mauche.

Even as poetry is struggling to make itself heard in the midst of all contemporary artistic productions, this new series aims to highlight the poetic practices of personalities from different disciplines (architects, philosophers, filmmakers, managers, musicians...), fostering encounters and exchanges between them.

Despite a context of invisibility in the media and cultural marginalization, poetry is still being written, published, and read.
Far from a self-contained entity, the practice constitutes a perpetually changing laboratory for language, and accordingly for representations.
It is a possible, open horizon whose force of attraction remains and which, thanks to its limited means, trumps accumulative processes.
Poetry, which in Isidore Ducasse's still current watchword "must be made by all," becomes "unacceptable" in modern tradition, in the recent words of poet and photographer Denis Roche.
What about the present moment, then, when it seems as though poetry as a whole has become exterior to itself and to what is written in its name, notably with other practices that more readily stake a claim to something "poetic"?
What about a poetic system of language, beyond the diversity of objects and the sociological dimension of this literary field? Shouldn't it also be looked for in other areas of creation or even in society, both of which produce poetry and forms in their own way?
In writing, reading, trading off its functions, stances and roles, poetry renews its contribution to naming and understanding, wherever it comes from.
This series proposes to make major contemporary poetic voices heard and to confront them with creators from other horizons: architecture, cinema, design, finance, management, music, philosophy, human sciences..., all of which also pursue experimentations with the practice of writing.
