Dominique Fiat Gallery is pleased to announce the first solo show in France of the 34 year-old cuban artist Glenda Leon. Glenda lives and work in La Habana, Cuba. In previous works, she has pointed out other ways of understanding our senses with paradoxes like «to see the sound» or «to listen to images». She managed to cunningly highlight our half deaf and half blind way of living our lives.
The present exhibition don't divert from the previous reflexions and brings more thoughts to it. When we project our own feelings, our partiality and fears on the reality that's around us we biase the outside reality. This phenomenon can help us construct an image of happiness. «According to me, happiness is an illusion of my mind, for the other it can represent sheer madness». The exhibition will be divided into 3 pieces: 3 videos, some lights boxes and an installation. The light boxe serie is called Espejismo (mirage). It is willing to make a correspondance between a storm light and different elements of nature. Sibblings of the idea of mirage, looking and feeling get mixed up and make us lose the notion of reality. Am I seeing nature itself or only its image... important concern of artists, endlessly renewed. Is it madness? The 3 videos brings those ideas into life thanks to the new technology, the 3D video that prefectly corresponds to the idea of constructed reality. Each video will be shown in single channel. They are called Ilusion, Delirio I and Delirio II. To finish, an installation will also be presented. It is composed of 2 cracked mirors that reflect one into the other like in a Rorschach effect.
